Born on August 21, 1979, in Harlem, New York, she is known for her eclectic musical style that blends R&B, soul, hip hop, and dancehall. Kelis gained prominence with her debut album 'Kaleidoscope' in 1999, which featured the hit single 'Milkshake'.

In addition to her music career, Kelis is also a successful chef and has been living on a remote farm outside Los Angeles since 2020. She relocated to Kenya in 2025, where she manages a 300-acre farm with her children. Kelis has been married twice and has two children.
