Self-Image, Managing Bullying & Trolling

Self-Image, Managing Bullying & Trolling

The sad truth about the Internet that we use today is that there almost always will be bullying. At least one version or another of cyber bullying takes place for cam girls. While it’s almost impossible to avoid, it is manageable if you take the right approach.

There are some specific actions that models can take in order to cut down on bullying on their pages. But first, we’ll be covering the importance of self-image and how it can severely impact the actions taken by trolls today.

Your Image, Internet Bullies & Trolling Advice For Cam Girls

Given that there are literally millions of people using Camsoda.com daily, it’s only expected that trolls and bullies exist among the crowds. They’re annoying, abusive, and they must be stopped. Good news is that controlling these people is doable. But before we get into how to stop them, let’s talk about the importance of having a positive self image.

What Is Self-Image?

Self-image is basically the view that you have of yourself. It’s your personal view of you and basically what we think of ourselves. Think of this as being the way that you describe yourself to yourself. If you have to describe yourself how would you do so?

Would you say that you’re intelligent, gorgeous, strong, exceptional, positive, happy? Or maybe you’d describe yourself as reserved, lacking confidence, ugly, scared, stupid? Taking an inventory of yourself and understanding what your strengths and weaknesses matter.

Your self-image isn’t built overnight. In fact, it’s built up over the years. If yours is somewhat negative today, that doesn’t mean that you’re permanently in trouble. Instead, since your self image is dynamic, you’ve got a chance to change how and what you think about yourself. Here’s that needs to happen first and I know it sounds like we’re avoiding the topic of bullying, but trust me, this is very important.

Here are a few things that you should do in order to develop a self-image that’s as positive as can be…

Take inventory of yourself. Understand where you’re at with yourself and be open to self criticism and change.

List your qualities. Take time to list all the positive qualities that you have.

Define goals. Have personal goals and objectives defined.

Confront yourself. If there are any distortions that you have of yourself, now is time to face them.

Love, you. Take a look in the mirror and learn to love you and everything you have become.

Be positive. No matter how bad things can get and how negative life can be at times, remember to stay positive.

Reaffirm uniqueness. Remind yourself that you’re a unique individual that cannot be compared to anyone else.

Keep pushing for change. Tell yourself that the work is not done as it’s not getting to a location but the journey that counts.

If you do all those things, then chances are you’re going to be in a better mental, physical and spiritual place than ever before. This will help keep your self-esteem at a healthy level.

When healthy, we typically have more accurate views of ourselves, not focusing on the weaknesses or inabilities and instead focusing on the positives but being honest about where we’re lacking.

Why does having a positive self-image matter so much for cam girls? Well, one of the main reasons why positive self-image matters is that it displays a good sense of “control.” This is especially important since models have their own cam rooms and domain.

Lacking positive self-image gives trolls and cyberbullies a warm welcome when if act they should never be allowed to make a model feel uncomfortable in a zone that they control.

Important: If you’re having self-image issues, please, please, please do not wait to ask for help. The support team at Camsoda is here to help you and we’re always here for our models. Reach out to us if you need help.

Bullying, Trolls, Flaming & More

We’ve all had to deal with a bully at one point or another. Whether it’s online or offline, they’re out there and they are persistent. The question is why do they do it? We did some research in order to determine what cyber bullying is and what forms it takes place in today.

The term cyberbullying is used to describe the harassing, humiliating, tormenting, or threatening of someone through the use of technology such as the Internet, texting, emailing, social posting, instant messaging, public forum commenting and more. There are different types of ways that people attempt to bully others through the use of technology. We’ve covered a few of them below.

Flaming – This is when people post comments about you that are derogatory. It’s typically something that happens in forums where there is a strong emphasis on users leaving comments. Think Camsoda comments, Facebook posts, Instagram etc.

Impersonation – This happens when someone creates a fake account or profile and tries to impersonate you. They will then post comments on other people’s accounts making it seem like it’s you doing the dirty work.

Outing – This occurs when someone publicly shares private information in an attempt to humiliate someone. This doesn’t necessarily happen just in cam rooms. It can happen via text, social media, private forums and more.

Trolling – This one here is the biggest of them all. It’s when someone insults or says something to intentionally hurt or antagonize someone else. This often leads to them responding, which is exactly the objective of the troll, with no plans of stopping.

Catfishing – A common issue in online dating when someone pretends to be someone they are not. They assume the identity of another person in order to manipulate others.

Denigration – This is when someone posts negative gossip or rumors about someone else. People often do this to ruin the reputation of others.

There are more ways to bully in cyberspace but these are probably the most important ways to know and be able to spot.

Now, more often than not, cyberbullies do this because something is missing in their own lives. They get pleasure out of making others feel less secure about themselves. Others do it just for the pure joy that it brings them. The key here is to not let them win.

What exactly does that mean? Well, a bully typically wants to either make you angry or make you feel inferior to them. You can win this battle by feeling confident yourself, reacting the proper way and having a strong support system in place to back you up. We’ll get into that now…

What Does Camsoda Do To Help?

Aside from providing an amazing community that’s majority filled with people who are there for a good time, they have technology in place that helps fight off trolls, stalkers, and every other type of cyberbully. Using your community is the best and quickest way to shut down a troll. Camsoda has something called the Camsoda Moderation role, which allows models to provide users with moderator access.

This gives them the ability to mute, shadow ban, or completely ban any bully or troll that causes problems in their room. This is without a doubt the fastest and most efficient way to fight off trolls. What’s nice about this feature is that users who get this moderator status often feel a sense of obligation to patrol and protect models. They are extra vigilant and work quickly to ban anyone talking bad or making rude comments.

For models that might be just starting off, it’s important that you put in the effort to market yourself and build your own community up. It’s really going to make your life easier when it comes to managing the bullying that takes place online. We’ve covered various marketing aspects for community building here if interested.

Now, assuming that you do not have a community in place and a large enough following to have moderators, then you can always call Camsoda support helpline. Each model has a direct phone number tied to their account which allows them to reach out to customer support for anything, especially bullying!

What Not To Do…

If you’re being bullied or trolled, the one thing that you never want to do is give them what they want. Never comment back negatively or show anger or outrage. This is literally giving them exactly what they want, which is getting a rise out of you.

Instead, play it cool, stay positive, ban them and move on. We’ve seen models get extremely upset and even yell over a troll and that’s just feeding negative energy to users willing to spend money. Don’t let one person ruin a good time with many.

Also, it’s super important that you explicitly state in your profile that trolling, bullying, and negative comments will get you banned for life without warning. Make sure to let users know that you’re the one running the show and you’re in control, not them.

You can nicely spell that out for them through the use of your profile bio and about me section. Whatever you do, keep your cool, don’t let any single user ruin the experience for everyone else and reach out to us for details!
