Yes, it’s a new year, and although it seems like we’ve already been on a really wild roller coaster in 2021, there’s plenty of reason why you should stay on track with your resolutions.

We’re about to hit that mid month period where you’re ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. I’m here to tell you do not do that. Instead, read this article and have a better understanding of New Year’s Resolutions, why they fail, and why it’s never too late to set goals and attack 2021 like a winner!

Don’t Be A New Year’s Resolution Quitter, Here’s How…

Before I dive deep into things and start passing out virtual high-fives for staying on track, know this: According to Researchgate.net, about 50% of all adults make resolutions for the new year. Guess how many actually follow through for long periods of time? Less than 10%! Not even 10% of people keep the ball rolling for a few months.

The most common reason that people fail at sticking to their resolutions is due to being unrealistic. People set goals that are widely difficult to achieve or they’re so far out of their normal everyday behavior that it’s a massive shock to the system.

Sure, shocking the system is what we all need sometimes, but the real wins are in the small daily efforts and lifestyle changes. Setting unrealistic expectations, whether related to the speed or amount of success (whatever you’re gunning for) it’s often too drastic to make a long term impact on things.

You don’t need to be extreme or sacrifice too much here. You simply need to adjust your lifestyle so it leads you to extreme success over a long period of time.

The Extreme Diet Example

I’ll use the extreme dieter as an example. That’s the person who says they’re going to cut out processed carbs, chocolate, sugar, bread, dairy, alcohol and more. They’ll then commit to eating next to nothing and perhaps even exercising obsessively for the month of January.

Guess what happens come the end of January and often mid-month? They end up so irritated and lacking proper nutrition that they turn irritable and angry.

Not only that, but they’ve just slowed things down because their metabolism went into hibernation from the lack of calories and carbs. They gain all the weight back within a few weeks, punish their body by eating whatever they feel and all that effort is down the drain.

This is too extreme and none of your resolutions should be extreme. Instead, they should be small wins and adjustments that can become comfortable lifestyle adjustments.

The goal is bettering your life. Now if you’ve still not taken action and haven’t set any resolutions, it’s not too late. Here’s a list of things to consider changing or working on to live a better life.

Productivity Goals

A good area that many of us can improve in terms of daily living is productivity. This area not only requires little effort, but the exponential gains can really add up quickly. Here are a few suggestions that you might consider working on in 2021.

Do More With Your Time

You can easily do more with your time just by scheduling out your day. Google Calendar and Apple Calendar are your friends. Use them, schedule out your day and you’ll be amazed at what you can actually accomplish.

Eschew Old Bad Habits

Don’t let the door hit those old bad habits in the ass on the way out. Whoa, wait a second, not all of them! Be strategic and realistic here. Pick one or two bad habits that you honestly want to work on and kick ‘em to the curb. The going all in approach is a foolish, unrealistic approach to things and it’s really going to cause more harm than good in the long run.

Developing New Efficiency Centric Habits

I’m all about being efficient as possible. Whether that be with day to day, special events or anything that comes my way. You’ll want to slowly begin developing new habits that make your day and overall life more efficient. You cannot change overnight, but you can begin by making small changes daily. Be more efficient and get your time back.

Now if you can tackle those things alone, then you’re a winner for sure! But if you want to take things to the next level, here are a few other things to consider tackling in 2021.

Health Goals

Improve your health this new year and you as well as the rest of society will benefit. Here are some suggestions for those of you looking to live healthier lives in the new year.

Be More Philanthropic

Sounds strange, but there are many health benefits of increasing your philanthropic contributions to society. Here’s a shocker, helping others makes us feel good about ourselves.

Now, those feelings will make your day, week or even your month better. Being more philanthropic has also proven to boost your creativity and thinking more creatively can really help entrepreneurs make strides. I say this because if you’re a cam model on the site, then most likely you’ve got your own business of some sort.

Improve Your Diet

Now, remember, you don’t want to go too crazy here, but make an honest effort to cut back and eat healthier this year. You can start by reducing consumption of certain foods or cutting alcohol down to once a week or month if you’re a habitual drinker. You could eliminate one specific carb, perhaps bread or limit your intake to only once a week. These are all great ways to start living a healthier life.

Improve Your Sleep Schedule

Getting into a better sleeping routine can really do wonders for your health and wellness. According to an article published by Dartmouth College, a lack of sleep can do a lot of bad things for you.

One of the things that neglecting sleep can do is it can cause learning as well as issues with memory. It’s also been known to impair motor skills. Let’s not forget that not sleeping can make you feel like absolute crap in general.

Feeling like crap is no fun and it’s certainly not good for your mind or body. Try setting a sleep schedule (yes, I’m back on the scheduling kick) and be sure to go to bed early. Even if it’s just a matter of getting fifteen minutes rest extra per day, it’ll add up.

Conclusion: You Can Do This!

I’ll wrap things up with a quick but important reminder to always focus on the small wins and effort that will exponentially improve your life and well-being. If you can do that, then I promise you’ll be glad that you stuck with your resolutions. Keep going and if you haven’t started making adjustments, it’s never too late!

Out with the old (peace out 2020) and in with the new.
